An El Niño phenomenon began to be seen some months ago. Now, true to its name, it will stay for Christmas.

 Since late October (see the Image of the Month for November), the phenomenon has grown, and it seems to be a "true" El Niño, reaching the South american coasts rather than an El Niño  "Modoki". Forecasts are not all in agreement on whether it will continue to develop, or if it has reached its peak.
