Examples before/after the 2010 Duacs Delayed-Time reprocessing
June 2010: the entirely reprocessed Duacs Delayed-Time data set (v3.0.0) are released. All these altimetry data since 1992 have been updated to the most recent reprocessed GDR standards. They include new improved processing method, better mapping parameters, new corrections allowing significant impact on the product quality.
At this occasion, Aviso shows some precise examples highlighting each of these real improvements:
- Closer to the poles: Improved quality of the mean profiles, combined with higher quality of the altimeter measurement and processing, allow to improve the spatial coverage of the data specially in high latitude areas.
- Finer ocean circulation in the Gulf Stream: One of the impacts of the Duacs-DT reprocessing is given by revealing finer structures in the large-scale circulation.
- Improved editing processing: One of the impacts of the Duacs-DT reprocessing is given by reducing the number of anomalous structures.
Better outlined eddies in Black Sea: As the global ocean product, the regional product over the Black Sea takes advantage of the reprocessing. Permanent and semi-permanent well known eddies are better outlined in the new Duacs DT version.
- Improved circulation in Mediterranean Sea: Focus on one example where one of the Alboran eddy is visibler with the new products.
